A yawn. A stretch. A simple start to his day.
Brian looked around. He had just woken up in his favorite tree. Although some people liked the sheltered huts, Brian preferred the more natural method. It was why he ate fresh meat, hunted himself, drank out of the stream, and didn't wear any clothes.
He swung down and landed on the ground, moving his toes to feel the dirt in between them. He was silent in his steps, carefully shifting his weight throughout his muscles so that he could move through the forest terrain.
His stomach grumbled so he went into hunting mode. his ears flattened back as his sensitive eyes picked up the slightest movement. He leaned forward a little bit and used ran towards the sound. He leaped over a bush, pushing the large creature open. A growl came through his throat as they rolled onto the ground forever.

The dirt under Amelia's feet felt different to her. She didn't know why, maybe it was because she hadn't been in this part of the forest before or maybe it was because she wasn't having the best day.
Her earrings seemed to move more than normal and hit her ears every few seconds. It hurt, a lot and she didn't know how long it would be until she ripped the things out. She always regretted getting her ears pierced, a lot because her friend had just stuck a needle through them and stuck earrings in. Though she couldn't complain out loud about them, she'd known it would be a risk to get them pierced.
She was crouched low, her knees close to touching the ground as she walked. She was tired, she was annoyed and she was trying to make sure she hid an awkward hole in her jeans. She liked clothes, she liked them a lot and she hated showing anything that was under her clothes which was why she did quite extreme things somethings to hide when she had a hole in her jeans or top.
She also hated new clothes.
After a bit she relaxed and straightened up. Walking more normally and faster. Making more noise than before. It was only seconds before she was tackled to the ground and began rolling. She quickly began to feel dizzy but managed to kick whatever had attacked her.

Brian summoned his cat reflexes. They weren't that strong since he was a hybrid, but they helped him stop falling, find which way was up, and push his body off the ground. He focused his attention onto the prey. It had been much stronger than he had imagined. He growled a threatening growl and bared his teeth and claws.
His mind focused and the dizziness went away. He could finally see the figure in front of him. But, it wasn't food or even an enemy. It was a female. She seemed a little torn up.
Being born in the homelands, he hadn't seen things like these before. She obviously was new to this place. She stood out like a spring in a dessert. She had odd fabrics for her clothes. The people who weren't nude here at least wore fur clothes. And little odd pieces of metal were hanging from here ears.
He stood straight and smiled. She actually was quite beautiful. He put out his hand to shake hands with her. He was naked, which was a little odd, but completely normal for him. Luckily, his soft penis hid in his longer white crotch fur. The only other long fur was the black puff on his head. But a smile was on his face that showed kindness and love.
"Hi, I'm Brian."

Amelia sat up the second she stopped rolling and the thing that had attacked her was off her. It didn't seem like her kick had done anything at all and that just seemed to make her more angry, she was hoping to get at least a little scream or cry of pain, she wasn't that weak.
She felt lucky for the skill she'd always thought of as annoying when she'd been younger, she could recover from dizziness very quickly. She didn't know why but it was helpful at this stage because her eyes focused quickly and she saw what it was that had attacked her.
A male. A naked male.
She covered her eyes as quick as she could. Who the hell walks around naked attacking girls? she asked herself, already knowing the answer. The male species. She stopped the laughter that suddenly burst up and it didn't make it past her lips.
With her hand still covering her eyes she stood up, sighing in relief that she did it without knocking into him because she couldn't see.
She peaked through her fingers to check that she wouldn't find herself face-to-face with something she didn't want to see. She found herself looking at the top of his head and the bottom of his ears. She smiled and moved her hand away from her eyes. She was taller than him, right now that was a blessing. She really didn't want to find herself looking at even his chest and especially not his lower areas.
She didn't shake his hand. She'd never shook someones hand before, it just wasn't something anyone around her had ever done. She knew that it was a polite thing to do but she also didn't want to touch his hand.
"I'm Amelia."
She wasn't too sure why she even told him her name. Well, maybe it was that apart from the fact he'd attacked her or that he was naked, he looked kind and kinda cute.

He brought his hand back after she said her name. It was understandable that she didn't want to shake hands. He was a stranger to her. He was used to everyone being friendly and open. It was actually one of his weaknesses. But she was probably not.
"You're a runaway. Aren't you?" His parents had told him stories of the hatred and prejudice of the bare skins in the gray cities. "If you've come here to get away from bare skins, you're safe here." He said it very softly, not wanting to scare her away.
He turned, angling his tail to wrap around her wrist. "Follow me. You can trust me, y' know. I can bring you to fresh food and water. Maybe a nice shower?"
He walked a few steps, trying to get her to follow him. He wanted a better life for her. "Just curious, no one came here with you, did they? The bare skins didn't follow you, right?"

While resisting the urge to cross her arms, Amelia managed a kind look. Not a smile. She never smiled until she completely trusted someone and has their friendship but she made sure she didn't look threatening. Most of the time she wore a look that practically told everyone "I don't want to know you, don't come near me or I'll hurt you."
Her right ear twitched at the next thing he said. That she was a runaway. That was true, she was a runaway, she couldn't live with the humans anymore, they hated her too much. She'd heard in the histories about the natives in some places being treated badly, the gays, people that were just plain smart being hated against and being treated like shit but she knew that how people like her were treated, it was worse than how any humans had treated other humans at any time.
Bare skins. It took her a moment to work out he was talking about the humans. He spoke differently, using much simpler language than she'd been taught. He spoke perfectly fine English, it was just simple English. People spoke much more complexly where she'd come from. She wondered how he'd been taught language.
He turned and wrapped his tail around her wrist. Her wolf side clicked in pretty quickly and a defensive growl broke the quietness of the forest.
"Get your tail off my wrist before I rip it apart with my teeth!" she shouted it. She hated being touched by strangers, and she especially didn't want to be touched by him after what he'd done to her.
She hadn't heard anything he had tried to say to her. Her attention was all concentrated on his tail on her wrist and wanting to rip the thing apart.

He sighed and let go. "You could be a little nicer. I'm just trying to help you."
He started walking forward. He leaned up, walking on the front half of his foot, kind of like the back legs of a dog. He seemed to avoid all the twigs and crunchy leaves, leaving only a silent forest breeze behind him. "This is really a nice place. The bare skins seemed to have left this island alone, apparently the spirits are supposed to haunt it. Although we respect nature, so we haven't had any issues with it yet."
He led her to the main village. It consisted of a few huts, a campfire, and a few people minding their own business. They were used to people coming and going.
"This is the campfire. Its kind of our safe zone. When people are here you don't talk about the bare skins or gray city or our past lives. Over there are the shelters for when it rains or you need some privacy. Most people just sleep on the forest floors anyway. And over there is the bathing area." He said running simple things down for her. "Is there anything I can help you with Amelia? Maybe take those metals out? They look kind of painful?" he said thinking about the earrings.

It took her a minute to calm down. She got angry a lot, it was all because of the humans, they'd made her angry, they'd made her so angry that she didn't think it would be a surprise if she angry enough to kill someone. She was happy that hadn't happened so far and she wanted it to stay like that. She would hate herself if she became a murderer.
He was right about it being a nice place. She'd been in the forest for a couple of days, managing to stay alive and not run into anyone. She was near insane when she got here, she had needed the time to calm down by herself but the reason she had been travelling today was because she felt ready to find someone. She hadn't exactly thought anything would happen like it had.
Spirits. Humans believed in weird things, very weird things. She didn't believe in spirits or ghosts or monsters herself though a lot of humans thought of her as a monster. The stories humans made up were just that, stories. They were just fictional stories which some people were stupid enough to believe.
The village looked really... peaceful. She could almost feel herself, every part of herself relaxing in this place. It was nothing like the towns and cities she had seen in her life time. This was such a different place, a place that looked like there was no hate or anger. She knew she would love it here, she knew now that it was the right decision to runaway. The humans lived so wrong, destroying the environment around them and making building that could make you angry from just looking at them, from smelling the horrible chemicals, from knowing what it was doing to all the wildlife that had called the area home.
She smiled as he showed her where the bathing area was. She knew she needed a shower so she would try to have one as soon as possible.
Metals? She thought to herself before she remembered her earrings. "You mean my earrings? No, don't touch them please. They don't hurt and they look nice. It's called fashion." she wasn't shouting or sounding annoyed, actually, she was a bit scared. She was scared of how much it would hurt to take her earrings out compared to the pain of keeping them in. "It doesn't look like you know anything about fashion, you don't even wear clothes."
She had to a point gotten used to the fact he was naked and was keeping her eyes, when she looked at him, on the top of his head. All she had to do was look straight ahead. She loved being taller than him.

"Well, they're kind of dumb. Besides, they'll just make you stand out around here. The point is kind of standing in. If people are afraid of you, they won't be as willing to work with you. The same with those clothes." He took a few steps, considering the consequences of adding a new person to the village. Although he wasn't alpha, he was part of the council, especially when welcoming newcomers.
"It won't be free of course. You'll have to do your share of work like anyone else." He looked her over, trying to think of jobs around here that she could do. Doctor? No, she probably had no skill. She didn't look that strong. And her anger would not let her work with other people. He didn't think she'd want to bear children for the village either. Or raise them. "Do you have any special skills? Or anything you'd like to do? I'm a hunter myself. Ive been taught to use my feral abilities and instincts to find, catch, and even kill prey. There are a few of us that feed the village.

She crossed her arms, her expression quickly changing. She was annoyed again. She hated people calling things she wore dumb. She had at one stage loved the idea of standing out but the clothes she was wearing now had been ones that had made her fit-in with the humans. She didn't mind the clothes, she was completely used to wearing them and she was not going to change and wear something different.
"They aren't dumb. You're the one who looks dumb, you're naked. Aren't you embarrassed?"
Yeah, she understood she'd have to do some kind of work. Nothing was ever free. But she had no idea what she would be able to do here, the skills she had weren't very helpful, mainly creative. She could hunt though. She wondered if girls were even allowed to hunt. "I'm not that bad at hunting," she told him.
She was calm again completely. Her emotional control seemed to just be getting worse.

He ignored her comment about his lack of clothes. This tended to happen with every single person who came into the new area, but it really didn't matter to him. He felt free and wild like this, which brought on a free loving spirit to his everyday life. Besides, he didn't have to hide himself from anyone or worry about girls using him for his body.
Sure Amelia. I will be your trainer than. I will teach you in the way of the hunter, You will be as silent as a mosquito. As quick as a lightning bolt. As strong as a wall. But most of all, as valuable as a gem,"

Amelia really hated being ignored but she let it go. Maybe he'd been asked the same question a lot before, that wouldn't surprise her or maybe he was annoyed at her, that kind of wouldn't surprise her either.
When he said he would be her trainer that surprised her a bit. She didn't think at all he liked her, though him being her hunter probably wasn't because he liked her but because he had to maybe? She didn't know. As valuable as a gem? That didn't make sense to her at all, he was talking about making her into a hunter, hunters usually weren't valuable. They were strong, silent and fast yes but not valuable.
"As valuable as a gem?" she asked.
If it were anyone else who had said that to her she might have actually blushed and thought of it as a compliment. It did sound sweet.

"Hunters follow a very tight code. We never eat until the village is fed. It just wouldn't be fair. We also must help any travelers in the forest that we come alone. We do not kill, but borrow the meat from the body, and give the rest back to mother nature. We do not waste. It is not as easy as it looks. We are very respected," he said as a little boy waved to him.
He was a yellow cheetah print. He smiled at Brian, but let the pair walk alone further. Brian waved back and said. "Hey bud, I have a present I found in the forest for you. I'll give it to you at the campfire tonight." The little boy's smile grew even more. He ran off back with his mom, helping her pick some berries from the bush.
You could see how Brian upheld the same code he had just said. He did what he could to please the village because he generally cared for them. He was kind of like the knight of the island. Doing good for everyone, trying his best to save the day.
"But anyway, that gem part. Because of the type of person needed for a hunter, we don't have many. It takes a certain type of person to become one. But if you pass, you will stand out in this village and shine more than anything. Like I do," he said laughing to himself a tiny bit.

Amelia listened, not opening her mouth to say anything until Brian was done talking. She talked over people a lot, she was rude. She knew she was rude but she was trying to be more polite. Trying.
She smiled lightly as he told a young boy that he had a present for him. That was sweet, he was looking more like a kind person. She was starting to feel a bit guilty for thinking of him as a bad person, just a tiny bit guilty. She mostly still thought she had a reason to, he had attacked her, even if it was because he'd thought she was prey.
She had a bit of a feeling she'd gotten herself into something way above her skills. When she had said she wasn't that bad at hunting, she meant she had killed a few small animal, very small animals in the past couple of days and kept herself from getting really hungry. She didn't think she was the certain type of person to become a hunter, she already knew the training would be a waste of time. She didn't have any other skills though, none that would be helpful anyway.
"What do you mean by a certain type of person?" she asked. "What if not that?"
